Abstract

In the Museum of Education in Lodz there is the biggest collection of the school flags in Poland. It is comprised of 103 exhibits. Most of them (over 60) are dated after 1945. The most valuable were made before the Second World War. The oldest one derives from the times of the First World War (1916, The Commercial School) and inter-war period. A variety of forms of Polish national emblem were created because of lack the legal rules concerning that. The article describes this phenonenon and its changes connected with transformations of the Polish political system.
