Streszczenie
The Village (directed by M. Night Shyamalan) is presented by the author as a horror, which doesn’t have species differentia specificia – in The Village we can’t distinguish a terror which is induced by a supernatural factor. The author explains this inconsistency through an antropological thought: an antinomy of place (axis mundi), space (N. Korczarowska) and a re-activation of a tribal way of thinking (M. Eliade, A. Wierciński). Also important in a paper is a protestant ethic and its consequences (M. Weber). The paper comments the relations between the work and the erotism, the body taboo and the passion. The conclusions of the paper aim to the statement that The Village represents a subgenre of a horror – The Village is an existential horror which describes a terror of a human being nature.
