Struktura bezrobocia w Teksasie McKee, William L.; Luker, William A. Decision-making at a local level concerning employment involves a need for estimating the character and extent of unemployment. Unemployment is generated by various causes such as business cycles, seasonal fluctuations, disproportions between professional qualifications of the unemployed and requirements ensuing from the structure of vacant Jobs as well as by manpower mobility and gaps in information flow with in the labour market. To ensure effective counteraction of unemployment by the local employment policy it is necessary to apply selective strategic programs at the local level addressed to particular forms of unemployment. The basic difficulty encountered in realization of such programs is connected with identification and quantitative determination of different unemployment categories. It is worth noting here that traditional forms of unemployment classification are, to a bigger extent, a product of abstract economic analysis than an effect of adaptation to the available statistical reporting.

The functioning of the social infrastructure was analyzed with application of many indices characterizing the degree to which the area is equipped with infrastructural facilities and evaluating the functioning of these facilities. The performed analysis based on basic trends of transformations in the demographic and socio-professional structure in Lodz administrative province allowed to emphasize the role of human factor information of the social infrastructure as well as general principles of planning infrastructural facilities in spatial systems. Rynek pracy w województwie miejskim łódzkim (lata 1976-1980) Jaeschke, Anna The article discusses the situation in the labour market in Lodz administrative province over the years 1976-1980. The empirical foundation was provided by data contained in reports of the Employment and Welfare Department in Lodz. The situation was assessed by means of a measure characerizing the degree of confrontation of demand (number of vacant Jobs) and supply (number of job seekers) of labour. There was revealed a sortage of labour in the analyzed period and especially as regards skilled labour. The next Part of the article deals with actions undertaken by the local employment organ in order to ensure more effective use of labour resources in the situation of their declining increment.

Ruch zatrudnionych w gospodarce uspołecznionej województwa miejskiego łódzkiego w latach 1975-1980 Kryńska, Elżbieta The article contains analysis of labour mobility in Lodz urban administrative province over the period 1975-1980 with the period being treated as a certain closed stage in development of the province. The analysis was based on statistical data concerning the structure and dynamics of employment and components of labour mobility such as employment and dismissal from work. It is preceded by a short discussion of determinants of labour mobility with the main attention focussed on factors accounting for mobility of personnel. The performed analysis allowed to formulate several conclusions. First of all, there was observed a strong influence exerted on certain characteristic structural features of labour mobility by the situation in the regional labour market revealing a substantial deficit of labour. There were also discovered considerable deviations from the general trend in the case of some elements of labour mobility in the initial and final year of the examined period i.e. in 1975 and 1960. It allowed to formulate a hypothesis about the in fluence exerted by transformations in the socio-economic life on processes occuring in the sphere of employment. The analysis ends with a short description of changes which will affect labour management in Lodz administrative province in the eighties.
