Вульгаризмы в речи польских гопников (на примере романа Д. Масловской Pусско-польская война под бело-красным флагом) Nevzorova-Kmech, Elena The paper presents several actual problems, among which is the style of belleslettres works of modern writers. However, the primary aim is to present the functioning of vulgarisms in colloquial speech. In this paper we concentrate on the way in which vulgar words are used and the causes of their occurrence. The Polish colloquial language is an example of language development, observed also in other Slavic languages. We can notice the vulgarization of language. It is obvious that not everyone uses vulgar words, but when it happens we are usually aware of reasons of their usage in speech, for example emotional state of a speaker, his or her behaviour, education and a stratum of society, which he or she chooses to belong to. The Maslovska‘s novel shows the life of Polish drug addicts, members of a gang, their interests and goals. For the creation of hero‘s images the author uses some language tools and she does not hesitate to put vulgarisms into the heroes‘ mouth. Thanks to this trick they look realistically. This novel confirms some linguistic theories about usage of vulgar words.

Środki językowe oddające poczucie humoru młodego Bolesława Prusa Machnicka, Violetta The author concentrates on the linguistic analysis of the early works of Aleksander Głowacki, that is the texts created between 1873 and 1875, which were initially printed mostly in such magazines as “Mucha,” “Kolce,” and “Kurier Warszawski.” The works represent characteristic, juvenile type of literary output and the sense of humour of the author who was just commencing his literary career. In the first part of the article there are definitions concerning various issues in the field of humorous writing. Then the collected material is analysed in several groups according to particular forms and types of linguistic means in order to amuse the readers: I. Titles of the works and collected works, dedications, epigraphs. II. Golden thoughts, aphorisms, proverbs, catchphrases. III. Periphrastic and hyperbolic structures and comparisons. IV. Meaningful proper names. V. Lexical, phraseological, morphological and semantic neologisms, ambiguous vocabulary, stylized texts.
