The industrial company, like any other relatively isolated structure,
implements its objectives operating in a definite environment. In this situation a desire to achieve objectives formulated in categories
or the product quality will primarily boil down to improvement of
methodological rationality of decisions being made by all subjects of
this system.
Improvement of effectiveness of the company activity in the discussed
area calls for solution of two essential problems, and namely:
- need for elaboration of the product-market strategy,
- improvement of the information system to meet the requirements posed
by the new product.
The strategy will not only stimulate development but it will also
determine the effective utilization of information both when the strategy
is being worked out and in new solutions, which in the new strategy will
be approved for introduction.
To obtain a proper quality of the product the company must not only
adapt itself to changes occuring in the environment but it should also
influence the sources of these changes.
For the information system to be able to perform the required functions
it must be perfected in two waye:
1) applying differentiation through objectives, developmental tasks
(in line with provisions of the chosen strategy),
2) utilizing adaptation through the work process (following the regulation
process being under way).
The above mentioned problems are discussed in the artitfle. The influence
of the information system on the product quality is linked with
the problem and decisional area of the management level it serves; the
industrial company linked with its environment.

The article contains a presentation of the method of optimal estimation of the metallic charge in a foundry applying the computer technique.
It starts with a short description of the technological process in a
foundry, which provides an insight into the important problem being a
subject of this study. The author points at two methods of the metallic charge estimation:
- method of linear programming,
- simulation method.
Both methods can be relatively easily computerized. Thanks to that
the process of the charge estimation becomes shortened while the results
obtained ensure good quality of cast iron possessing the best economical
and qualitative characteristics.
The linear programming method possesses many advantages and disadvantages
briefly analyzed in the article. For this reason we are presenting
a method which allows for elimination of drawbacks attributed to the
linear programming method.
The method, we mean here, is the simulation method. Joint application
of the linear programming and simulation methods allows to achieve a
solution guaranteeing production of cast iron characterized with a relatively
best quality and lowest production costs. Application of the simulation
method assumes submitting many acceptable variants obtained on the
way of the linear programming method to the simulation procedure and selection
of the best variant. That, however, does not afford any bigger
difficulties as the application of an electronic digital machine for calculation
makes it possible to perform this task within a short time.
The presented methods of metallic charge estimation can be applied not
only in every foundry but also in steel works etc.

Questionnaire surveys conducted in the mechanical weaving mill of the
Obrońców Pokoju Cotton Mills in 1975 provided among others information
about the material situation of women—weavers employed there and their
families. Comparing them with average incomes of working families on the
national scale it should be pointed out that their situation is less favourable. That primarily concerns those families where the incomes of working women constitute the only source of income. In the most typical
cases wages of working women submitted to the analysis account for 40 to
50 per cent of the family’s incomes. In lower income brackets they are
of ten the only persons in the family br inging in incomes.

The article discusses some problems connected with leisure time of
weavers employed in mechanical weaving mills of a selected company. Researches
were based on the questionnaire survey. Answers provided by
respondents to questions about length of slee-periods Bhow that it
depends on the shift-work system, working hours and other factors euch
as age, marital status etc. The time allotted to sleeping by the examined
weavers must be described as insufficient, especially in those cases when
it is their turn to work night shifts. That is also confirmed by results
obtained by other researchers dealing with the problem of sleep-periods
of working women.
Another factor restricting the leisure time fund is the need pf commuting.
In the company under survey working women are spending 2.4 hours on
the average to commute to work and back home. The leisure time is, moreover,
reduced by household duties and child care. All in all the time
balance of the examined weavers shows its considerable burdening not only
with professional .but also household and family duties.
