<title>Directions and Size of Definitive Migration in Poland Since 1999</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/611</link>
<description>Directions and Size of Definitive Migration in Poland Since 1999
Zdrojewski, Eugeniusz Z.; Guzińska, Małgorzata
The main aim of the study is to show the influence of migration on the &#13;
dynamics of the real growth of population in all the 16 present-day voivodeships, with  &#13;
a division into urban and rural areas. Only definitive (permanent) internal and interna-&#13;
tional (foreign) migrations were taken into consideration here. Since migration is a two-&#13;
directional movement − inflow (immigration) to a given territory and outflow (emigra-&#13;
tion) from the former place of residence − we dealt here both with newcomers (incoming &#13;
population, immigrants) to the territory of all 16 voivodeships and with the population &#13;
leaving given voivodeships permanently. A particularly detailed analysis was applied to &#13;
net migrations or migration balances.

<title>The Demand for Places in Social Homes for the Elderly Among Polish Seniors to the Year 2035</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/610</link>
<description>The Demand for Places in Social Homes for the Elderly Among Polish Seniors to the Year 2035
Lewandowska-Szweda, Zofia
The article aims to assess the demand for the places in social homes for &#13;
the elderly among persons aged 75+ up to the year 2035. To this end, the proportion of &#13;
the disabled in the selected subpopulation is estimated to approximate the demand for &#13;
the beds. The findings indicate that a significant increase in the demand for institutional &#13;
support is likely, driven by the growing subpopulation of older persons in Poland.

<title>Population Aging and Some Social Consequences of the Process in the Country and in the Region</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/609</link>
<description>Population Aging and Some Social Consequences of the Process in the Country and in the Region
Kowaleski, Jerzy T.
The  paper  describes  the  state  of  population  aging  in  Poland  and  one &#13;
voivodeship  (Kujawsko-pomorskie)  in  the  early  21st  c.,  as  well  as  showing  how  the &#13;
process will develop in the next future, limited by the beginning of the 2030s.  &#13;
Using the economic and biological age groups to describe the structure of popula-&#13;
tion with respect to aging, we need to note that the shares of age groups are similar in the &#13;
voivodeship  and  in  the  country,  both  today  and  throughout  the  Central  Statistical  Of-&#13;
fice’s most recent population projection. The similar shares of the working age group &#13;
and retirement age group in the analysed areas translate into almost identical potential &#13;
support ratios for the country and the mentioned administrative unit and into their future &#13;
trends.  &#13;
Population aging considered in the cross section of urban and rural areas makes it &#13;
evident that the process consequences (e.g. for the labour market, the social policy) will &#13;
affect the urban population more strongly than the rural population.

<title>Reflection on Redefinition of Elderly People's Role in the Modern Society</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/608</link>
<description>Reflection on Redefinition of Elderly People's Role in the Modern Society
Thel, Karolina
The purpose of the presented paper is to redefine the place and category &#13;
of  elderly  people  facing  the  demographic  and  cultural  changes  in  the  contemporary &#13;
world. It presents the lack of precision to define the topic because of the internal cate-&#13;
gory differentiation. The paper makes an attempt to discuss the generation gap distance &#13;
on the basis of Margaret Mead's theory and tries to give an answer to the question of the &#13;
present and future role of elderly people in the post-modern society.
