The research encompasses both an evaluation of existing methods and the development of new methodological solutions, along with their empirical verification. The obtained results indicate the limitations of classical bilateral indices and support the recommendation of methods tailored to the specific characteristics of high-granularity and high-frequency data (multilateral indices and indicators). In particular, the cycle of works emphasises the role of methodological decisions on the part of the statistical office, such as the choice of data aggregation level and data filtering procedures, while also identifying the factors that determine the results of price dynamics measurement. Children are an exemplary group of urban inhabitants, for whom environmental quality during walking matters greatly. They often depend on local and walkable access to urban amenities. Although these issues are important in the context of increasingly sedentary lifestyles and children’s growing disconnection from nature, they remain insufficiently studied. For instance, little is known about how urban greenery and the benefits it provides are distributed across socio-economic groups and urban contexts when active mobility routes are considered. This dissertation addresses these research gaps by bringing together children’s visual exposure to urban greenery along hypothetical walking routes, with a focus on socio-economic inequalities, trade-offs, and the role of proximity-based planning. Accordingly, this dissertation is guided by three research objectives: (1) to reveal socioeconomic and spatial patterns in children’s visual exposure to urban greenery along their active mobility routes; (2) to identify trade-offs in children’s active mobility routes between travel distance and visual exposure to urban greenery; and (3) to understand institutional and planning conditions for the equitable provision of urban greenery in children’s active mobility routes. From an economic perspective, the dissertation conceptualises visual exposure to urban greenery along active mobility routes as a non-market environmental benefit that generates positive externalities. It adopts a microeconomic lens in which children’s route choices reflect constrained decision-making and trade-offs between travel distance and visual exposure to urban greenery. The first chapter discusses the essence of intellectual property and copyright. It presents examples of disputes and conflicts that arise in the context of cooperation between science and business. The second chapter presents the network of connections between universities, institutes, enterprises, and investment funds. The third chapter emphasises that effectiveness depends on the ability to implement research results in practice. The fourth chapter demonstrates that collaboration between science and business, pursued with passion, is a driving force for universities and research institutions. The uniqueness of this monograph lies in its theoretical, empirical, and applied nature. This character is reflected in the composition of its content, which is evident both in its structure and the presented content. This single, concise publication encompasses forms of cooperation between business and science, as well as tools and supporting institutions. The book concludes that sustainable and effective cooperation between science and business should be viewed as a strategic process, requiring not only appropriate institutional, legal, and financial frameworks, but also a shared definition of development goals.
