It covers a time horizon of 1975—1980. The comparative analysis performed by the author encompassed both the types and spatial structure of green areas in particular urban units. The green areas available in the town of Lodz are analyzed separately with allowances made for disproportions between particular residential districts. The study covers a period between 1975 and 1980, and it encompasses the following problems connected with sanitation of towns: cleaning of streets and squares, tian sport and dumping of liquid and stable garbage and impurities, containers for storage of garbage, and public lavatories. Besides a general illustration of the problem a more detailed analysis encompassed those elements of the water supply and sewage system which exert a considerable influence on satisfaction of the population’s needs The performed observation concerned the level and changes in the basic measures referred to the population size and areas of the towns under survey. The analysis revealed substantial differentiation in supply of the towns under study with the above facilities and certain shortcomings in protection of the environment.
