Problemy planowania kadr kwalifikowanych i rozwoju szkolnictwa&#13;
stały się w ostatnich latach przedmiotem szczególnego&#13;
zainteresowania naukowców różnych dziedzin. W uznaniu roli i znaczenia&#13;
kwalifikacji dla rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego kraju&#13;
podjęty został temat niniejszego opracowania. Podstawową intencją&#13;
było ukazanie roli i miejsca szkolnictwa w ogólnym systemie&#13;
społecznym i gospodarczym. Tok badań, a następnie analiza wyników&#13;
podporządkowane zostały następującym celom badawczym: zaprezentowaniu&#13;
powiązań systemu kształcenia z gospodarką narodową&#13;
oraz ocenie skutków wdrożenia reformy edukacji narodowej w wielkomiejskim&#13;
ośrodku przemysłowym.; It appeared desirable to undertake this research project in view of the role and importance of professional qualifications for the socio-economic development of the state. The basic aim was to point at the role and place of education&#13;
 in the overall socio-economic system. Both the course of researches and next results Of analysis were subordinated to two research targets: presentation of ties between the education system and the national economy (part 1 and 2), and assessment of consequences ensuing from introduction of the national education reform in a big urban industrial centre (part 3). Against the background of socio-eoonomic conditions accompanying development of education, the main attention was focussed on construction of the regional model of education&#13;
 and employment of skilled labour. The term "model" refers here&#13;
 to a construction revealing the most important characteristics.&#13;
 It was presented in two variants, i.e. for the older&#13;
 and the reformed schooling systems (Fig. 2 and 3). This model&#13;
 represents an attempt at correlating demand and supply approaches in the field of planning education. In order to verify the model there was made a projection concerning inflow of graduates of secondary-level&#13;
 schools to the national economy in Łódź according to two&#13;
 variants. The first variant (A) assumes extrapolation of the&#13;
 old schooling structure i.e. the one functioning at the&#13;
 present time. There were estimated sizes of streams of graduates&#13;
 from primary, grammar, and vocational schools of the&#13;
 secondary level until 2000. The second variant of the projection&#13;
 (B) takes into account the most essential solutions&#13;
 provided by the educational system reform in the period of&#13;
 its launching (1978-199O). There were estimated sizes of stroams of graduaťes from basic vocational schools of the&#13;
 new type (the so-called professional specializations offered&#13;
 after 8th grade of the reformed school), common 10-year secondary&#13;
 schools, schools of directional specialization, and&#13;
 all types of professional courses (1 to 5 semesters).&#13;
 The projection of graduates inflow takes into account&#13;
 the influence exerted by migration of pupils to Łódż and&#13;
 from Łódź which was expressed by means of migration coefficient&#13;
 M.&#13;
 Results produced by variants A and В of tho projection&#13;
 allowed to estimate quantitative effects of the schooling-&#13;
 -system reform in Łódź and effects of its introduction in&#13;
 the form of size of streams enriching the labour market.
