<title>The Philosophy of Thomas Hobbes: Monist, Materialist and Mechanist</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/21501</link>
<description>The Philosophy of Thomas Hobbes: Monist, Materialist and Mechanist
Machamer, Peter
This essay will present Hobbes as the most consistent philosopher of the 17th century, and show that in all&#13;
areas his endeavors have cogency that is unrivalled, in many ways even to this day. The second section will&#13;
outline Hobbes’ conception of philosophy and his causal materialism. Section 3 will deal briefly with Hobbes’&#13;
discussion of sensation and then present his views on the nature and function of language and how reason&#13;
depends upon language. Section 4 portrays his views about the material world; Section 5 deals with nature&#13;
of man; and the 6th section with the artificial body of the commonwealth and the means of its creation.

<title>Hermeneutyczna charakterystyka pojęcia „Lebenswelt” w fenomenologii Edmunda Husserla</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/21500</link>
<description>Hermeneutyczna charakterystyka pojęcia „Lebenswelt” w fenomenologii Edmunda Husserla
Furman, Marcin
The subject of this are the considerations concerning the “late” period of Edmund Husserl’s&#13;
output and the notion of Lebenswelt. Husserl believes that any scientific knowledge, unlike analyses of&#13;
common experience, requires new formal specification.&#13;
Ipso facto cognitive absoluteness and its objectivity in a form of the “thing-in-itself” is moved to&#13;
the background. A man cannot reach definitive cognition in this manner. Therefore cognition of life is&#13;
the matter of principle.

<title>Metoda korelacji w myśli filozoficznej Paula Tillicha</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/21499</link>
<description>Metoda korelacji w myśli filozoficznej Paula Tillicha
Bogdalczyk, Maciej
The purpose of this text is to reconstruct Paul Tillich’s thought concerning the contemporary issue&#13;
resulting from the relation between theology and philosophy. The questions to be stated are: Is it&#13;
possible to establish conditions for theology and philosophy to coexist? If so, where is their source?&#13;
I am going to show the relation between philosophy and theology in the context of a seeking existence&#13;
that happens to be a human being, with regards to God who answers human questions. In this paper I&#13;
will try to present Tillich’s thought based on the hermeneutical way of understanding the symbol, which&#13;
would make the Revelation being more available and comprehensible for humans. This would result as&#13;
well in better and more aware understanding of what a human being really is.

<title>Wolność Boga w tworzeniu obrazu wiedzy ludzkiej a wolność człowieka do jej przyjmowania jako zagadnienie w filozofii R. Descartes’a</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/21498</link>
<description>Wolność Boga w tworzeniu obrazu wiedzy ludzkiej a wolność człowieka do jej przyjmowania jako zagadnienie w filozofii R. Descartes’a
Śliwiński, Tomasz
The topic of freedom in Descartes’ philosophy is usually being connected with human freedom. It is&#13;
understood in the traditional perspective of distinguishing right from wrong and truth from false. This&#13;
aspect is, in my opinion, sufficiently explained. The same applies to Descartes’ ethics, connections of&#13;
which with Antiquity were often mentioned. In the paper I bring up quite different issue. It rests on the&#13;
question what it means that God creates the truth and what consequences it has for human validity&#13;
(and necessity) of recognizing and receiving it, what is its status and, finally, how it reconfigures the&#13;
relation between God and the man.
