<title>Reasons and benefits of implementing Six Sigma in the empirical study of enterprises operating in Poland</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/745</link>
<description>Reasons and benefits of implementing Six Sigma in the empirical study of enterprises operating in Poland
Urbaniak, Maciej
The aim of this article is a presentation of methodologies which refer to improvement&#13;
of processes and products defined as Six Sigma. The workers' qualifications play the&#13;
essential role in the implementation of improvement projects while utilizing these methodologies.&#13;
The organizations which are using Six Sigma as the tool operating improvement try to actively&#13;
include all the workers in realization of these projects. The employees have to have a cycle of&#13;
intensive trainings. These courses could help them to acquire the knowledge which is necessary to&#13;
use the tools and techniques for the implementation of improvements.

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/744</link>
<description>Business process maturity assessment - concept, methods and tools
Kalinowski, Tomasz Bartosz
The article is aimed at presenting the principles of Business Process Maturity&#13;
Models (BPMM). They can be identified as a set of recommendations and good practices in&#13;
achieving operational efficiency of performed processes. When process approach is a paradigm&#13;
and according to available research organizations are becoming process – centric, the BPMM’s are&#13;
beginning to be seen as the sources of sustainable competitive advantage and also a tool for&#13;
obtaining operational excellence. As there is a very large number of documented maturity models&#13;
the article also presents the results of literature study aiming at identify the most common existing&#13;
models as well as present their main features and benefits.

<title>Performance measurement in Juliusz Au's theory of agricultural accounting in 19th century Poland</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/742</link>
<description>Performance measurement in Juliusz Au's theory of agricultural accounting in 19th century Poland
Turzyński, Mikołaj
Before the Partitions, Poland, beside Russia, was the largest, territorially compact&#13;
European state. As a result of the Partitions of Poland, which were carried out in 1772, 1793 and&#13;
1795, Polish territory was divided and annexed by the three partitioning powers: Russia, Germany&#13;
and Prussia. In an attempt to resist aggressive Germanization by the invader, Poles employed, among&#13;
others, the methods of “organic work” and “work at the grass roots” (a programme, launched by the&#13;
Polish positivists, of economic and cultural development through spreading literacy and popularizing&#13;
science among the masses). It was on Polish territories under Prussian occupation that the theoretical&#13;
and practical foundations of farm accounting were developed (Bernacki 2007b, p. 116-117). The&#13;
main objectives of this paper are: to place the work and theory of Juliusz Au within the social and&#13;
political context of the Prussian partition; to present a theory of agricultural accounting developed by&#13;
J. Au; to evaluate J. Au’s theory from present-day perspective.&#13;
J. Au is the author of a comprehensive, universal theory of accounting encompassing its three&#13;
cognitive levels (aspects): (1) general level, covering the concept, objectives and method of&#13;
accounting; (2) procedural level, comprising principles of assets measurement, choice of&#13;
accounting period and production cost calculation; (3) supporting level, comprising organization&#13;
of accounting, rules for statistical data collection and audit procedures.
