The article presents results of analyses on the peroentage level&#13;
of drop-outs among students in the faoulty of Production Economics at&#13;
the University of Łódź. It contains a socio-demographic characteristics&#13;
of the eoclal category created as a result of these phenomena. The&#13;
aggre^tion in question is represented by students, who left the&#13;
faculty of Production Economics in the course of all years of academic&#13;
studies (i. e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th ) over the six consecutive&#13;
academic years from &lt;1969/1970 to 1975/1976.&#13;
Studies performed by the author show that the average percentage&#13;
figure of students obtaining the certificate of completed Btudies in&#13;
the faculty in question reaches about 70 per cent, and thus losses due to&#13;
iropping(-out amount to 30 per cent for particular years_. From among 70 per&#13;
cent of students obtaining the certificate of completed studies on the&#13;
average about 6 per cent do not seat for the master's exam. This produces a&#13;
decrease of the index of aggregate effectiveness of studies for the&#13;
faculty of Production Economics to the level of 64 per cent.&#13;
Further conclusions from the analysis look as follows:&#13;
1. Process of dropping-out in the faculty of Production Economics&#13;
is not enenly spread both with reference to particular years of studyind&#13;
(it is highest in the case of the first year students)and particular academic&#13;
years.&#13;
2, As a result of more frequent cases of dropping-out among men grows feminization, of studies, 3. Social origins exert a strong influence on the process of leaving&#13;
the University before graduation with the wei$)t of this factor depending&#13;
on sex as an intermediate variable.&#13;
4. High level of dropping-out 'among men of working-class origin is&#13;
conditioned, to a large extent, by the type of completed secondary&#13;
school.&#13;
Analyses presented in the article are based on materials and documenta&#13;
provided by the Dean's Office of the Department of Economics&#13;
and Sociology, University of Lódź . Their processing constitutes the first&#13;
stage of studies on the process of dropping-out of students. The&#13;
second stage of studies will encompass interviews with young people&#13;
filing to complete their academic courses, and concerning their further&#13;
life and professional careers. The objective of the second stage&#13;
will be, among others, to determine the strength of needs and desires&#13;
of the young people under survey as connected with obtaining of the&#13;
academic education.

The article contains an analysis of some more general present-day&#13;
problems of researches on teachers as well as presentation of finding?&#13;
of researches conducted in one of Poland's administrative provinces. Attention&#13;
is drawn to relationships between these problems and more&#13;
comprehensive researches on the social structure and changes occuring within it. These changes encompass both particular eleaents of this&#13;
structure and their correlations as well as transformations taking&#13;
place within ab6**efptions being distinguished in the social structure.&#13;
Changes occuring in the socio-professional group of teachers are of&#13;
essential significance both fro» the viewpoint of changes in the&#13;
social structure and their importance for the role, functions and&#13;
growing tasks facing the educational system. In the article there are&#13;
quoted - on the basis of analysis of materials provided by researches&#13;
on teachers with different length of service and age - data concerning&#13;
changos taking place in their social and territorial origin, level of&#13;
education and supplementary studies, degree of feminization of the profession,&#13;
teaching of particular subjects, participation ' in educational&#13;
work. The conclusion points at selected features of the aggregation and&#13;
changes which occur within it and which are of great importance for&#13;
present and future tasks posed before the school as well as features&#13;
the shaping of which schould receive more attention. There are also included&#13;
some comments made by researchers analyzing this professional&#13;
category.

The article deals with, ii?olo ical education of children in a family.&#13;
There was .sade an atteapt at definition of the level of knowledge&#13;
about intrafamily education in the caee of students attemHng&#13;
the senior gradea of secondary schools. The analysis concerned \mainly&#13;
ideological subfunction of the family and prospects of proper&#13;
influencing of the yaun£ ^wneration by the family in the area of&#13;
ideological education. The above suojoctc aro discussed ai^inst the&#13;
background of materials collected in 1976 from 400 graduates within&#13;
the fraaowork of researches on pedagogical culture of the youn people.&#13;
Detailed analysis encompassed outlooks being most closely connncted&#13;
with the ideological education - shaping of ideological attitudes&#13;
among the younger generation and their Weltanschauung. They соncern&#13;
mainly the significance attributed by young people to the socializing&#13;
and educational function in the overall family, life and its corral tion&#13;
with the cultural function, which is of essential importance for this&#13;
sphere of education. That is due to the fact that it exerts a decisive&#13;
influenca on selection of factors , which should be taken into consideration&#13;
if we wish the young man to be properly adapted to life in&#13;
the society. Attention was primarily focussed on elements of the cultural heritage&#13;
of "up ratiim, v41jós and ideals connected with them, which&#13;
the young people under survey wish to pass to descendants. There&#13;
are further discussed personality models by neans of which they&#13;
intend to internalize that contents among their children in order to&#13;
achive the educational success. While analyzing the outiuoks of the young people, the researchrea estimated both the scope and quality&#13;
of knowledge about each one of the factors of the educational process&#13;
and the extent to which' they are aware of the necessity of&#13;
taking those factors into consideration in the educational process&#13;
within the family. The conclusions ensuing from the analyses performed are discussed&#13;
aQilnst the background of socio-demographic features of the young&#13;
generation and their participation in courses devoted to "Adaptation&#13;
to Family Life". On the basis of the conducted studies there was&#13;
formulated a general conclusion, which says that the level of pedagogical&#13;
culture of the young people about to leave the secondary&#13;
schools is relatively low. Accordingly, we miÿvt assume that the&#13;
ideological education' of children,', they will have in the future, will&#13;
be carried out in an improper manner from the pedagogical point&#13;
of view, and that it will be taking place - first of all&#13;
outside the family boundaries, most probably mainly at school and in&#13;
other educational circles.&#13;
In the final part of the article there are determined theoretical&#13;
and methodological problems belonging to the discussed problem&#13;
area, which should become an object of analysis in the near future.&#13;
That is so, because we believe that solution of these problems&#13;
constitutes a prerequisite for empirical studies of these problems.

The basic assumption of the article is a thesis that the effectiveness&#13;
of the socialist upbringing in the final account depends upon&#13;
the way in which all institutions are operating daily. Pi*operly functioning&#13;
economic, political, and other systems shape appropriate attitudes&#13;
by themselves. On the other hand, the affects of evident&#13;
evil on human awareness will not be compensated even by the best&#13;
system of education.&#13;
By the concept of the educational ideal of socialism the author&#13;
means here historical changes in tho system of attitudes ensuring in given&#13;
conditions a rapid social progress and comprehensive development of&#13;
individuals. The ideal thus perceived is first revealed In actions&#13;
of individuals and groups most engaged in construction of the sociopolitical&#13;
system, and only then it is disseminated under influence&#13;
of socializing and educational efforts.&#13;
The educational ideal of socialism should be a personality fighting for justice, equality and freedom. The attitude of fight&#13;
with the evil promotes social progress and is in line with the&#13;
Marxist concept of happiness.&#13;
In order to achieve the educational ideal of socialism it becomes&#13;
necessary to fulfil the following four essential conditions:&#13;
firstly - proper formulation of the ideal and its proper dissemination;&#13;
secondly - creation of a system of stimuli, in accordance with&#13;
which a conduct conforming to the ideal allows to obtain desirable&#13;
values;&#13;
thirdly - elimination of divergencies between ideals and practice in&#13;
activities of institutions;&#13;
fourthly - construction of a complementary educational system.
