Gromadzenie rzadkich wydawnictw XIX- i XX-wiecznych oraz druków przeznaczonych do zbiorów specjalnych w latach 2005–2012 w BUŁ

Abstract

The article discusses the policy of the development of the collection of rare publications from XIX and XX century and prints for special collections, in the years 2005–2012. The earlier policy of collection development, to 2004, has already been discussed in the article “Acquisition of Collections in the Łódź University Library in the Years 1945–2004” (“Gromadzenie zbiorów w Bibliotece Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego w latach 1945–2004. Zarys problematyki”) included in the bibliography to the article. The collection covers prints, bibliophilic prints, old prints, old print maps and atlases, manuscripts, bookplates, photographs, graphics, songbooks, musical notes, and ephemeral materials. Among the prints, some are particularly interesting because of their contents, graphical compositions, circulation, places and dates of publication or provenance. The items are acquired mainly through the antiquarian purchase. The analysis covers the domestic purchase of books, periodicals and prints for special collections, over this period in which the policy of the development of the collection was aimed at its completeness, purposefulness, functionality, and usability.
