Abstract

The aim of the paper is not a fashion but clothes of women-workers since they were functioning outside the sphere of fashion. Research on social changes may be significantly enriched with such investigations. Clothes have not only practical meaning; they may express social status, beliefs, often may be treated as a kind of art. Women from lower social class may serve as a good example of this phenomenon. Modest clothes of women-workers going to factories were quite characteristic. In the paper we describe versions of clothes for everyday usage and for special ocassions. Needs and possibilities of women-workers concerning fashion are also discussed.
