Streszczenie
During the history of Poland jewelry was not only used for decoration, it was one of the means of manifesting patriotic values. The origins of patriotic jewelry goes back to XVIIIth century, during Kościuszko Uprising. Later, patriotic jewelry was an integral part of all subsequent uprisings. By using national symbols it became a way of expressing patriotic feelings and manifesting resistance against government in all Polish Partitions. The notable elements of patriotic jewelry were an eagle, a cross, an anchor, a heart and bows in national colors. In the XIXth century wearing patriotic jewelry were strictly forbidden in all Polish Partitions.
