dc.description.abstract | The beginning of the 21st century brought another wave of great interest in architecture of the African continent. Contemporary designs and their creators attract more and more intense attention at the international arena. African architectural landscape have been still going through a process of extensive search and experiments, both aesthetic and constructive ones. Contemporary architectural structures in Africa clearly reveal an issue of creating and searching its own identity and cultural distinctness. Projects, mostly those by architects of the young generation, such as Diebedo Francis Kere or Kunle Adeyemi, create an interesting new visual language, constructed on a creative dialog between tradition and modernity. An important aspect of undertaken activities is activation and education of the local community. A new visual language created by gifted architects designing in African countries shows great potential, while combination of local values with ideas and technological achievements from outside of the continent brings interesting effects. | pl_PL |
