<description>Znaczenie trudnego dziedzictwa kulturowego socmodernizmu w rozwoju miast
Waleski, Ignacy
The architectural heritage of the Polish People’s Republic (PRL) represents an ambivalent category of cultural resources, often perceived as dissonant heritage. Its negative perception, compounded by aesthetic controversies, technical degradation, and inappropriate modernization, complicates its protection and integration into urban development policies.&#13;
&#13;
This dissertation investigates the significance and development potential of socialist modernist heritage in Poland, focusing on heritage awareness, territorial impact, and cultural and economic value. Its objectives are to examine the integration of heritage into urban policies, assess its strategic potential, and conduct a comprehensive valorization of selected resources.&#13;
&#13;
Situated within regional studies, the research draws on local development theory, the resource-based view, and David Throsby’s theory of cultural capital. It examines non-residential socialist modernist buildings in former voivodeship capitals, selected purposively according to their functional diversity, architectural authenticity, and cultural significance. A mixed-methods approach combines historical-interpretative analysis, document analysis, field observations, and CAWI and CATI surveys conducted in 2023–2024. Strategic potential is assessed using the VRIO framework, while economic non-use value is estimated through the willingness-to-pay (WTP) method. The research findings are synthesized in the Atlas of Socialist Modernist Heritage.&#13;
&#13;
The findings reveal that despite limited public awareness and insufficient integration into urban development strategies, socialist modernist heritage possesses considerable development potential. The study highlights its capacity to strengthen territorial capital, urban attractiveness, competitiveness, and local identity. Its recognition, valorization, and appropriate management can support more sustainable and heritage-sensitive urban development.

<description>Pomiar dynamiki cen produktów skanowanych
Pawelec, Natalia
The presented publication cycle concerns the measurement of inflation using scanner &#13;
data and the analysis of the properties of price and quantity indices and indicators under &#13;
conditions of high dynamics in the structure of the inflation basket. The research &#13;
encompasses both an evaluation of existing methods and the development of new &#13;
methodological solutions, along with their empirical verification. The obtained results &#13;
indicate the limitations of classical bilateral indices and support the recommendation of &#13;
methods tailored to the specific characteristics of high-granularity and high-frequency &#13;
data (multilateral indices and indicators). In particular, the cycle of works emphasises &#13;
the role of methodological decisions on the part of the statistical office, such as the &#13;
choice of data aggregation level and data filtering procedures, while also identifying the &#13;
factors that determine the results of price dynamics measurement. The contribution of &#13;
the work lies in extending the toolkit for inflation analysis and in providing conclusions &#13;
of relevance to modern price statistics.

<title>The role of green spaces in promoting active home-school commuting among children from an environmental justice perspective</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/59346</link>
<description>The role of green spaces in promoting active home-school commuting among children from an environmental justice perspective
Khanian, Mojtaba
This dissertation focuses on one aspect of environmental quality, the presence of urban&#13;
greenery along hypothetical active mobility routes. Children are an exemplary group of urban&#13;
inhabitants, for whom environmental quality during walking matters greatly. They often&#13;
depend on local and walkable access to urban amenities. Although these issues are important&#13;
in the context of increasingly sedentary lifestyles and children’s growing disconnection from&#13;
nature, they remain insufficiently studied. For instance, little is known about how urban&#13;
greenery and the benefits it provides are distributed across socio-economic groups and urban&#13;
contexts when active mobility routes are considered. This dissertation addresses these research&#13;
gaps by bringing together children’s visual exposure to urban greenery along hypothetical&#13;
walking routes, with a focus on socio-economic inequalities, trade-offs, and the role of&#13;
proximity-based planning.&#13;
Accordingly, this dissertation is guided by three research objectives: (1) to reveal socioeconomic and spatial patterns in children’s visual exposure to urban greenery along their active&#13;
mobility routes; (2) to identify trade-offs in children’s active mobility routes between travel&#13;
distance and visual exposure to urban greenery; and (3) to understand institutional and planning&#13;
conditions for the equitable provision of urban greenery in children’s active mobility routes.&#13;
From an economic perspective, the dissertation conceptualises visual exposure to urban&#13;
greenery along active mobility routes as a non-market environmental benefit that generates&#13;
positive externalities. It adopts a microeconomic lens in which children’s route choices reflect&#13;
constrained decision-making and trade-offs between travel distance and visual exposure to&#13;
urban greenery. At the same time, urban, environmental and institutional economics provide&#13;
the broad perspective for understanding how urban planning, infrastructure provision, and&#13;
public investment decisions shape the provision of environmental benefits.

<title>Expansion of Chinese companies to European stock exchanges</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11089/58257</link>
<description>Expansion of Chinese companies to European stock exchanges
Cieślik, Sylwia
The growing importance of China in the global economy, particularly in production, trade, and finance, has led Chinese companies to become increasingly active in international capital markets. One key manifestation of this trend is raising capital through Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), which are increasingly conducted on foreign stock exchanges. Listing abroad enables firms to access diversified financing sources and enhance their international credibility, representing an important stage of their internationalisation.&#13;
&#13;
This dissertation aims to identify the factors influencing Chinese companies’ decisions to list on European stock markets. It focuses on firms from Mainland China and examines their presence in Europe within broader economic and institutional contexts.&#13;
&#13;
The main hypothesis assumes that non-economic factors play a decisive role in these decisions. Supporting hypotheses are divided into two groups: economic factors (such as capital needs, growth, profitability, and investor access) and institutional factors (including legal systems, political environment, cultural conditions, and domestic constraints in China).&#13;
&#13;
The empirical study covers 2002–2022 (with robustness checks until 2023) and includes a sample of 118 companies, constructed using Propensity Score Matching. Quantitative methods were applied to test economic factors, while institutional aspects were analysed using qualitative approaches.&#13;
&#13;
The results show that economic factors are not the primary drivers of European listings. Instead, institutional conditions in Europe and regulatory constraints in China play a crucial role. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the importance of institutional determinants and offers practical insights for policymakers, regulators, and investors.
Dynamiczny wzrost znaczenia Chin w gospodarce światowej, zarówno w wymiarze produkcyjnym, handlowym, jak i finansowym, sprawił, że przedsiębiorstwa z tego regionu stały się coraz aktywniejszymi uczestnikami międzynarodowych rynków kapitałowych. Jednym z kluczowych elementów tej aktywności jest pozyskiwanie kapitału poprzez publiczne emisje akcji, które w warunkach postępującej globalizacji oraz integracji rynków finansowych, coraz częściej przybierają formę zagranicznych debiutów giełdowych. Ekspansja chińskich spółek na zagraniczne giełdy stanowi istotny etap ich internacjonalizacji, umożliwiając dostęp do zróżnicowanych źródeł finansowania, czy budowę międzynarodowej wiarygodności.&#13;
Celem rozprawy jest identyfikacja czynników determinujących decyzje chińskich spółek dotyczące wejścia na europejskie rynki giełdowe poprzez emisję instrumentów udziałowych. Praca koncentruje się na spółkach pochodzących z Chin kontynentalnych i analizuje ich obecność na europejskich giełdach w kontekście uwarunkowań ekonomicznych oraz instytucjonalnych. &#13;
W rozprawie sformułowano hipotezę główną, zgodnie z którą czynniki nieekonomiczne odgrywają kluczową rolę w procesie ekspansji chińskich spółek na europejskie rynki giełdowe. Hipotezy pomocnicze zostały podzielone na dwie zasadnicze grupy. Pierwsza z nich obejmuje hipotezy ekonomiczne, odnoszące się do wewnętrznych uwarunkowań spółek, takich jak zapotrzebowanie na kapitał, dostęp do szerszej bazy inwestorów, dynamika wzrostu oraz poprawa rentowności. Druga grupa obejmuje hipotezy instytucjonalne, koncentrujące się na jakości otoczenia politycznego i prawno-regulacyjnego rynków docelowych, uwarunkowaniach kulturowych oraz ograniczeniach wynikających z funkcjonowania krajowego systemu instytucjonalnego w Chinach.&#13;
Badanie empiryczne obejmuje lata 2002–2022, z rozszerzeniem analizy o testy odporności dla okresu 2002–2023. Próba badawcza składa się ze 118 spółek, w tym 59 spółek notowanych na europejskich giełdach oraz 59 podmiotów, które przeprowadziły debiut giełdowy na rynkach krajowych w Chinach. Dobór próby przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem  metody Propensity Score Matching, natomiast weryfikację hipotez ekonomicznych przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem testów parametrycznych i nieparametrycznych oraz metody estymacji parametrów opartą na podejściu uogólnionych równań estymujących (Generalised Estimating Equations). Hipotezy o charakterze instytucjonalnym zweryfikowano przy użyciu zestawu metod jakościowych, obejmujących analizę literatury, studia przypadków, analizę porównawczą oraz ocenę wskaźników instytucjonalnych i kulturowych.&#13;
Uzyskane wyniki empiryczne wskazują, że czynniki ekonomiczne nie stanowią dla chińskich spółek dominującego impulsu decyzyjnego w przypadku wyboru europejskich rynków kapitałowych jako miejsca debiutu giełdowego. Analiza podkreśla natomiast w sposób istotny znaczenie czynników instytucjonalnych charakteryzujących rynki europejskie, jak również akcentują istotność barier regulacyjnych i instytucjonalnych występujących w Chinach. Wyniki badań wykazują więc, że decyzje lokalizacyjne chińskich spółek są kształtowane nie tylko przez czynniki rynkowe, lecz także przez uwarunkowania geopolityczne, regulacyjne i kulturowe.&#13;
