Mehmed Sokolović jako postać literacka. Na marginesie powieści „Hamam Balkanija” Vladislava Bajaca

Abstract

The person of half-Turk half-Serb Mehmed Pasha-Sokolović – is an interesting topic for writers. The novel written by V. Bajac Hamam Balkanija not only shows the character of the famous pasha, but it is also an example of poetics, which combines European fictional standards with Oriental story-telling. It is a novel about identity built entire life through contact with others. V. Bajac, who is a modern writer, is also an interesting character looking for a new topic and a new language of expression. Two stories are separated – one is printed in Cyrillic, the other in Latin alphabet, thus reminding us of another important aspect and symbol of identity of Serbia.
