Egzonimizacja polskich toponimów w języku francuskim

Abstract

Knowing that toponyms (and other proper names) “migrate” to other languages, and that this phenomenon is even more intense in the era of globalization, my paper will concern the issue of integration of toponyms in a foreign language and creation of exonyms. To see this integration we will compare the structure of the toponyms and its equivalents in a foreign language – particularly, the integration of Polish proper names in the French language. French foreign names will be compared with the original Polish names by the means of an analysis known as “l’analyse fonctionnelle” (functional analysis). This analyse will let us observe in details the inner structure of the foreign and original toponyms and in consequence, to observe the process of integration of the toponyms in a foreign language. The research is related to synchronic-contrastive toponomastics and can be useful, among others, in the international project of the UN on standardization of proper names worldwide.
