The author assesses the quality of the Polish document critically, showing the developmental inadequacy of the standards contained within it, their incoherence, and selectiveness. The program curriculum for preschools in USA shows that scientific literacy assumes an increasingly important role in the context of globalization. The rapid pace of technological advances, access to an unprecedented wealth of information, and the pervasive impact of science and technology on day-to-day living require a depth of understanding that can be enhanced through quality science education.
