Abstract

The article presents The Section of the Collections’ Preservation that was founded in the new building of The Library of Łódź University in 2006. However, the first attempts of founding such a workshop were taken up in the 60s. of the previous century. Unfortunately, they appeared ineffective. Now, the Section consists of five rooms. There are two main directions of work undertaken here. The first of them are preventive measures introducing and applying protective acid free and high quality materials preventing any possible damage. The other one are necessary repairs of library holdings (old prints, manuscripts, posters, newspapers and magazines, public relations documents).
