Abstract

The Collections Preparation Department has changed since its beginnings, similarly to the whole Library of Łódź University. The changes were of the organizational and substantive nature. The organizational changes covered the formations of some sections, the liquidations of others, and the fusions of departments. All these transformations are discussed in the article in the chronological order. The organizational changes were connected with substantive ones. The former system of work was revolutionized by computerization. The collections were being prepared according to the changing rules. The changes mainly concerned the process of cataloging, which is presented at the end of the article.
