Niekończące się rozliczanie. Proza Thomasa Bernharda jako dzieło nadpisywane
Streszczenie
The article presents Thomas Bernhard’s prose as work in progress, culminating in Extinction. The analysis of selected novels (Gargoyles, Correction, Woodcutters,
Old Masters: A Comedy, Extinction) and Autobiography shows the recurring themes of Bernhard’s works, such as the criticism of the state and nation, of the family, and of the catholic Church, the debunking of the myth of the idyllic province, and the rejection of the idea of writing as a duty. All these themes are highlighted in Extinction, which has a certain excessive quality in comparison with the earlier novels. The article focuses of Berhard’s ways of resolving a variety of most symptomatic motifs in his last novel.
