Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive discussion of issues related to laryngeal cancer, one of the most common malignancies of the head and neck region. The author discusses the role of genetic, environmental, and harmful lifestyle factors in the development of this disease. Treatment methods for laryngeal cancer, both surgical and non‑surgical, are presented. Special attention was paid to the procedure of total laryngectomy. The following part of the article discusses the possibilities of verbal and non‑verbal communication and describes non‑verbal communication of patients after surgical removal of the larynx, as well as the research procedure and a case study of a patient after total laryngectomy.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono kompleksowe omówienie zagadnień związanych z rakiem krtani, jednym z najczęstszych nowotworów złośliwych rejonu głowy i szyi. Omówiona została rola czynników genetycznych, środowiskowych oraz szkodliwego stylu życia w rozwoju tej choroby. Przedstawiono zarówno chirurgiczne, jak i niechirurgiczne metody leczenia raka krtani. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono zabiegowi laryngektomii całkowitej. W dalszej części artykułu omówiono możliwości komunikacji werbalnej i niewerbalnej pacjentów po operacyjnym usunięciu krtani oraz opisano procedurę badawczą i studium przypadku pacjenta po laryngektomii całkowitej.
