Rozprza – badania Muzeum Archeologicznego i Etnograficznego w Łodzi w latach 1963–1966
Streszczenie
The Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Łódź under the direction of Aldona Chmielowska, an employee of the Department of the Middle Ages and Modern Periods, conducted excavations at the early medieval stronghold in Rozprza, Łódź voivodeship, and the surrounding area in the years 1963–1966. The main effort was directed at the identification of the defensive structures (state 1). As a result of the excavations, Aldona Chmielowska concluded that the stronghold functioned within a broad chronological framework between the 6th and 9th centuries. The archaeological material recovered during the excavations represents almost all categories of artefacts, ranging from pottery to militaria, objects of everyday use, as well as earthenware or iron finds. In 2013, as a result of the implementation of the scheme of non-invasive research of settlements in Central Poland within the framework of the “Protection of archaeological relics” programme coordinated by the National Heritage Institute, led by Jerzy Sikora, Piotr Kittel, and Piotr Wroniecki, the settlement site in Rozprza was re-investigated.
