Братство света как мнимая антитеза «мясным машинам» в романе В. Г. Сорокина Лeд
Abstract
The aim of the paper is to present an illusive antithesis «brotherhood of light» – «meat machines» in Vladimir Sorokin’s novel «Ice» that begins epic «Ice Trilogy». The novel takes a special place in Russian postmodernist’s works. Not only artistic solutions and shocking stylistic scenes, which are typical for writer’s manner of expression, but also the content play significant role in the «Ice». The author of the paper intends to outline both sides of the antithesis. In reference with the text there are analysed motives and deep sense of blue-eyed and invariably blond group which provides selection of mankind, using magic ice hammers, and exterminates ones not similar to them. According to rays of light «meat machines» are ordinary people who lead mechanic and primitive life, whose hearts are dead and unable to talk in the language of heart. As a contrast, «the brotherhood of light» are cosmic creatures which try to reunite in the circle of Original Lightness. Sorokin, the stylistic virtuoso and master of provocation, using his powerful artistic technic aspires to criticise in the novel a contemporary unifying of human life and remind us that we are spiritual and unique beings.
