Abstract
A study on the relationship betweeen level of self-esteem and effective coping with stress as a function of health is presented. The theoretical basis of researches is functional model of health by H. Wrona-Polańska (2003), in which health is a function of creative coping and personal resources. The key psychological health mechanism was subjective resources, which through three paths i.e. competence, emotional, and stress, lead to balance between demands and possibilities of a man i.e. health. Selfesteem influences directly on effective coping with stress and indirectly on health. The level of health depends on positive self-esteem. The results are very important for practical consequences, for psychoeducational and promotion of health.
