Rozwój przestrzenny Bełchatowa
Streszczenie
W pracy przedstawiono etapy rozwoju przestrzennego Bełchatowa na tle historii ośrodka,
podkreślając w szczególności okresy morfologiczno-urbanistyczne, które miały decydujący wpływ
na ten rozwój. Urban development of Bełchatów can be divided into three stages: 1. the feudal
period (till 1737) 2. capitalist period (1870-1945) 3. post-war period, with particularly
rapid spatial and lunctional transformation occurring from the 1970s after establishment
of lignite open-pit mines and construction of power station in the town’s vicinity.
i rom this time on, Bełchatów at first experienced an ‘inner’ development within the
existing mediaeval spatial layout, which was followed by a stage of additive, external
development consisting in annexation of outer terrains. The present spatial structure of
Bełchatów is largely a result of processes that took place within the last 30 years.
The today’s urban structure of Bełchatów is composed of central district of medieval
origin with some relics of old layout, surrounded by multi- and single-family housing
estates. Industrial areas do not collide with residential districts. The administrative limits
of Bełchatów include former medieval town of Grocholice where medieval street pattern
has been partially preserved.
