Sytuacja kobiet na rynku pracy w województwie łódzkim

Abstract

The article analyzes changes occurring on the labour market of women in the Administrative province of Łódź. The analysis of information collected in the Provincial Labour Office shows that the situation of women on the local labour market deteriorated in the years 1990-1992. Women without qualifications represent the group most threatened by unemployment. Among qualified women, the most difficult situation is faced by women in occupations connected with the light industry, which is most acutely affected by the recession. The phenomenon of unemployment, which was not known to the economically active part of the Polish society has become today one of the biggest threats, a cause of frustrations and impoverishment of the population. In many families in the Region of Łódź, there are no persons at all who would be gainfully employed. It is necessary to expand the activity of employment agancies to include the working out of programmes aimed at reduction of unemployment and addressed to groups of employees most threatened by the loss оf jobs. In this province, women can certainly be classified among them.
