Primadonna i jej brylanty: o legendarnej biżuterii Wiktorii Kaweckiej

Abstract

This article aims to examine the renowned jewellery collection attributed to Wiktoria Kawecka, a prominent figure in Warsaw’s pre-war operetta scene. During the height of her career in the early 20th century, Kawecka was reputed to have assembled a collection of exceptional jewels, regarded as among the most significant in the Polish territories of the time. The style of jewellery worn by Kawecka, with its predominant diamond adornments, reflected the jewellery trends in Europe at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the absence of surviving archival records concerning this legendary collection, the analysis draws upon available resources, including contemporary press articles, iconographic materials, and memoir literature.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja ustaleń dotyczących słynnej kolekcji biżuterii należącej do Wiktorii Kaweckiej (1875–1929), gwiazdy przedwojennej operetki warszawskiej. W szczytowym okresie swojej kariery, przypadającym na 1. dekadę XX wieku, śpiewaczka i aktorka miała zgromadzić zbiór klejnotów uważany za jeden z najcenniejszych w ówczesnej Polsce. Styl biżuterii noszonej przez Kawecką, z dominującymi ozdobami diamentowymi, odzwierciedlał trendy w europejskim jubilerstwie przełomu XIX i XX wieku. Z uwagi na brak zachowanych archiwaliów dotyczących legendarnego zbioru precjozów artykuł oparto na dostępnych źródłach, jakie stanowią artykuły prasowe i materiały ikonograficzne pochodzące z omawianego okresu, a także literatura wspomnieniowa.
