Średniowieczne herezje dualistyczne na Bałkanach: Źródła greckie

Abstract

The dualistic heresies implicit in the title of this collection are primarily Bogomilism and, to a lesser extent, Paulicianism, present in the history of the Balkan states from the 7th century to the end of the Middle Ages. Seven years ago, a volume of Slavic sources was published. This book represents another step in bringing their history and doctrine to the Polish reader. We have decided to publish the first Polish edition of the most important anti-heretical texts in order to familiarize scholars from related humanities disciplines – as well as a wider audience – with the complexity of dogmatic disputes in the Byzantine-Slavic community of the Middle Ages. Some of these relics are already well known to specialists, for instance, the Letter of the Patriarch Theophylact to Tsar Peter; the polemical treatise (or rather, pamphlet) of the monk Euthymius of the Peribleptos monastery; section 27 from Panoplia dogmatica by Euthymius Zigabenos entitled Against the Bogomils, or an excerpt from Pseudo-Psellos’ work On demons. The book also includes lesser-known texts: fragments of the 12th-century anonymous homily for the Sunday of All Saints, commentary to the Divine Liturgy by Theodore (Nicholas?) of Andida, records of synods, sentences, oaths of the repentant heretics and others.

Dualistyczne herezje ukryte w tytule tego zbioru to przede wszystkim bogomilswo i, w mniejszym stopniu, paulicjanizm, obecne w historii państw bałkańskich od VII wieku do końca średniowiecza. Siedem lat temu ukazał się tom źródeł słowiańskich. Niniejsza książka stanowi kolejny krok w przybliżaniu ich historii i doktryny polskiemu czytelnikowi. Zdecydowaliśmy się opublikować pierwszą polską edycję najważniejszych tekstów antyheretyckich, aby przybliżyć badaczom pokrewnych dyscyplin humanistycznych - a także szerszej publiczności - złożoność sporów dogmatycznych we wspólnocie bizantyńsko-słowiańskiej doby średniowiecza. Niektóre z tych zabytków są już dobrze znane specjalistom, na przykład list patriarchy Teofilakta do cara Piotra; traktat polemiczny (a raczej pamflet) mnicha Eutymiusza z klasztoru Peribleptos; rozdział 27 z Panoplia dogmatica Eutymiusza Zigabenosa zatytułowany Przeciw bogomiłom czy fragment dzieła Pseudo-Psellosa O demonach. Książka zawiera również mniej znane teksty: fragmenty XII-wiecznej anonimowej homilii na Niedzielę Wszystkich Świętych, komentarz do Boskiej Liturgii autorstwa Teodora (Mikołaja?) z Andydy, akta synodów, wyroki, przysięgi skruszonych heretyków i inne.
