Od siebie do performera ku innym: Grupa Teatralna „Jestem”

Abstract

Therapeutic perspective is dominating in the research on the artistic works of persons with a disability. Meanwhile performances of these artists the same effectively actualize other functions: aesthetic, ludic, integration, creative and as such are interesting field for theatre studies, performance studies, culture studies, sociology. The article is focused on Theatre Group Jestem (Theatre I’m) form Toruń and presents their performances and theatre techniques as a process from reinventing itself to performative presence on a stage and a public space. The author describes phases of performative process and its impact on the theatre aesthetic of the shows. One of the considered issues is theatrical representation of a disabled body what provokes discussion about subversive nature of disabled performance.
