Teatr postimigrancki jako teatr antyfolklorystyczny

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the practice of the “postmigrant theatre”. The phrase ‘postmigrant’ shall be seen as an alternative term to people with “a migrant background” in the history of their family. The postmigrant theatre is the negation of existing practices of the migrant theatre. While the migrant theatre (the author refers to it as the “folk theatre”) is seen mainly as creativity without artistic potential, which has only sociotherapeutic meaning, the aim of the postmigrant theatre is to elevate the protagonist from being the object to being the subject of the discussion. The postmigrant theatre focuses on problems of migrant society (including the descendants of the migrants) and is far from both stereotypical and uncritical depicting of them.
