Abstract

ach system of production may be approached as a unity of two subsystems i.e . technical and social subsystems. These systems are mutually adjusting and overlapping each other, with each of them constituting, to some extent, a constraint for the other one. The kind of interrelationships existing between them is determined by requirements concerning effectiveness of production. Initially, the technical system strongly predominated and the social system had to adjust itself to it (taylorism, human relations) . Such a situation, otherwise known as technological determinism, was preserved till the sixties and the seventies. The changes begun at that time aim at a joint optimization of both these systems , at a harmonious co -operation of a man and a machine. The system of production being created in such a way carries a general name o f the social-technical system.
