Praca jako wartość społeczna w systemie socjalistycznym

Abstract

The subject of the article belongs to a wider trend in researches on transformations in social awareness, and it also refers to problems concerning attitudes of people towards their work. The article consists, in fact, of two parts. The first part discusses the most essential concepts including the attitude, value, relationships between values and needs on one hand and attitudes on the other one as treated by the literature of the subject. There is next presented an interpretation of the „social value concept” and what makes work a social value. This part of the article closes with the accepted assumptions explaining the advisability of studies on work in categories of value. In the second part of the article the author is trying to show the opinions of people about work as a value in the light of the conducted researches; what is the essence of the subjective value of work. In this review the author is trying to outline briefly two problems: 1) whether work represents a value for people, 2) how wide is the range of instrumental character of work as a value, that is to say, what values people are trying to realize in connection with the performed work.
