Abstract
The Publishing Profile of the National Publishing House “Iskry” in 1952–1992. The author focuses her attention on the
publishing profile of the National Publishing House „Iskry”, existing in Poland from 1952 to 1992, which nowadays continues its
activity as a private firm. The development of the House is set against the background of contemporary situation on the publishing
market. The main duty of “Iskry” was publishing and popularizing the literature for teenagers. The publishing profile was varied
and covered: social-political literature, pop-scientific literature, guides on a large scale, national and foreign press articles, travel literature and reportages. Fiction in wide range, with the classical works for youth, science-fiction, sensational and satirical literature
were also published. It is worth saying that the Publishing House initiated the publishing of pocket-books on Polish market. Besides,
“Iskry” popularized works of writers publishing their first volumes of prose and poetry. Iskry” always cared about its repertoire and
layout of books
