The article presents a brief review of input-output theory and practice with special focus on areas which are considered by the authors as particularly relevant and having significant growth potential. These areas are: applications of input-output methods in simulation analyses of various aspects of macroeconomic development, estimation of trade flows in terms of global value chains and the analysis of innovation diffusion among sectors.pl_PL
