Profesor Helena Więckowska w dokumentach aparatu bezpieczeństwa PRL

Abstract

Professor Helena Więckowska played an enormous role in life of Łódź University and whole Polish librarianship after II World War. Her life and achievements relate to the political reality in PRL. Communistic security apparatus was interested in her, because of her attempts of keeping scientific contact with the world and polish cultural and scientific centers on emigration. Her declamations and her activity as a headmaster of the University of Łódź Library were analyzed by security apparatus officers. During students’ revolt in 1968 she was included in the group of scientist disloyal to the authority. It took a lot of effort and strong character from prof. Więckowska to overcome obstacles created by security apparatus officers.
