The purpose of the study is to analyze fertility changes in Poland during the transition period. The research concerns the period quantum measured by the Total Fertility Rate TFR and the cohort fertility (CFR). The aim of the study is to examine the distortion in period quantum attributed to tempo effects caused by the change in timing of birth. Methods to remove tempo distortion proposed by J. Bongaarts and G. Feeney (2005) are applied and analyzed in regional cross-section. The effects of the relationship between tempo and quantum in period measures of fertility are discussed.pl_PL
