Slika Bošnjaka u autobiografskom diskursu „Sjećanja“ Meše Selimovića

Abstract

Based on the concepts of imagology, this work deals with the images of the Bosniak ethnic identity and their culture in The Memories (1976), the autobiographical discourse of Meša Selimović. In his images of the character and identity of Bosniaks, the nation from which he originated, the author reveals an important role of Islam. Furthermore, the work aims to reveal how this autobiographical discourse could be read through the imagological perspective as a textual construct – an imaginary discourse, representamen, which produce images that distinguish a “nation from the rest of humanity for something different, articulating collective-psychological motivation for given social or national qualities, especially dealing characterological explanations of cultural differences“.
