Abstract
Educating librarians at the University of Wrocław has been ongoing for the last sixty years. In this time educational programmes have been modified on a regular basis, however, they have always been linked to contemporary scientific research carried out at the Institute of Library and Information Science. Most changes were incorporated into modules about 2005 and in subsequent years, and were motivated by a number of factors: the need to streamline modes of studies with European standards, the influence of employers’ views on the specific material delivered to students in given years and at given courses (full and part time) and the expectations of students. In the article the author discusses both the development and the specifics of the training of librarians at the University of Wrocław, with a particular focus on the last ten years.
