Życie książki 1. połowy XX wieku w świetle „Myśli Narodowej” (1921-1939)
Streszczenie
The aim of the paper is to show “Myśl Narodowa” (1921-1939) as a source that can be used to research the culture of the book in the first half of the twentieth century. In 1925 the magazine was the unofficial press organ of the National Democratic Party with some close and indisputable relations to the National Camp. At that time there were very few texts published in the magazine’s pages that could be of some interest for a literature researcher. Only later, when “Myśl Narodowa” became both a weekly of a political
nature and a literary and culture magazine and, at the same time, an organ of an ideological and theoretical character and a forum for shaping opinions and expressing the convictions of the national-democratic milieu, a lot of interesting articles related to the world of book were published in various sections of the magazine. Besides, the regular columns like “From the World of Science and Literature”, “Publishing Market”, “Foreign Literature, “New Books” contained the current bibliographic reviews and the advertising section dealt with promoting books and other non-periodical publications. One of the regular parts of the advertising section was aimed at encouraging to read and subscribing magazines, especially the nationalist ones, but among others there was also a biweekly magazine of a bibliophilic nature called “Lektury Wolnych Chwil”. Apart from the short presentation of both the history and the contents of “Myśl
Narodowa” the paper thoroughly provides readers with the articles of a bibliographic nature. Some fragments were quoted in original as essential source materials for researchers studying the books and culture of the first half of the twentieth century.
