dc.description.abstract | Article entitled Modern novel and emancipation. An outline oj the genre evolution
as anticipating system centres on the fact that cultural literary theory allows to
interpret novel and its issues in anthropological perspective. Cultural genology enables
studying the genre evolution through analyzing certain literary categories - such as style
and narration and their development along with the development of novel. It also includes
in the study area issues concerning meaning of a text, senses evoked by the idea novel,
mutual influence of literary genre and praxis. In case of modern novel the main issue is
analyzing the genre as a mean of conveying emancipation values and studying self
reference in novel anticipating important points that are to occur to the genre in times to
come. Noticing these anticipating values of the genre like extrapolation of what is to be
developed in future realisations of the genre along with evoking ideas, which shall be
practised in social reality (the idea of tollerance) allow to treat the genre - using the
theoretical model taken from the AI studies - as a specific anticipating model.
For the evolution of novel its emancipation potential and its anticipation property
are significant. Studying the genesis and development of novel we realize that the genre is
based on the contemporary stories from the age oi Enlightenment so examining this age
must include its realisations of novels. The idea of Richard Rorty may be useful because it
joins the idea of rationality with tolerance and freedom but also with dialogic and
intersubjectivity values of the genre thanks to which literary critics dethroned -
according to Rorty - monologue religious and philosophical systems and replaced them.
Analyzing contemporary novel as a realisation of Habermas project of modernity and
studying emancipation and anticipation potential of the genre we will be able to notice and
describe the logic of evolution of that most important literary genre. | pl_PL |
