Streszczenie
Throughout the Romantic era the woman served the role of poets’ muse. A special role in musical inspirations of romantic artists was reserserved to artistically talented, musically educated women, singers or pianists, whose performances delighted in terms of technique, expression and emotional subtlety. Inspiring influence of Delfina Potocka can be found in works of Zygmunt Krasiński, Juliusz Słowacki and Stanisław Starzynski. Norwid’s affection towards Maria Kalergis was the source of his creativity. Adam Mickiewicz frequently highlighted piano music of Maria Szymanowska. Performances of Ksawera Deybel were fix events during guests’ visits in his Parisian residence. The apotheosis of pianist Leonia Wildowa in accordance with the spirit of the times is made by Kornel Ujejski, who also praises vocal talents of Jenny Ney and Helena Zawiszanka. Poets’ reactions confirm romantic belief of the idea of woman who sitting at a piano is the object of male fantasies.
