Stan obecny i perspektywy rozwoju turystyki przyjazdowej w Tunezji
Streszczenie
Tunisia is one of most popular tourist destinations in northern Africa. The country boasts considerable tourist assets owing to favourable natural conditions and long and turbulent history. Major holiday resorts are situated along the eastern coast. Sightseeing destinations of historical, cultural or religious interest (e.g. ruins of Roman cities, picturesque Berber villages, Islamic pilgrimage centers) are to be found in the interior and southern section of the country.
The tourist turnout in Tunisia has been gradually increasing with as many as 6 million tourists registered in 2004. Most of them come to the seaside regions for coastal recreation. Nevertheless, in recent years some changes have been implemented in the Tunisian tourism development strategy oriented toward, among others, diversification of the tourist product.
The tourist infrastructure in the interior is being developed and the promotional actions have been undertaken to popularize cultural attractions. Totally new tourist products e.g. golf courses, thalassotherapy centres, yachting and diving centres.
At the same time, efforts are continued to maintain or even increase the number of foreign tourists in Tunisia. This promotion is implemented e.g. through representative offices of the Tunisian National Tourism Office abroad, numbering 28 in different parts of the world. The promotion aims to keep high arrival figures from the traditional tourist source countries such as France, Germany, Great Britain. On the other hand, endeavors are being made to capture new tourist markets, among others from Central-Eastern Europe, the Far East and North America.
Possessing unquestionable tourist assets, Tunisia provides an example of appropriate development of tourist sector. Of particular importance here is the role of the Tunisian government, which pursues a coordinated policy of tourist promotion.
