Analiza jakościowa wywiadów przeprowadzonych w ramach projektu NCN Miniatura pt. “Prawnicze herstorie - Sylwetki kobiet w nauczaniu doktryn politycznych i prawnych na wybranych uczelniach wyższych w Polsce” (dataset)
Abstract
This pilot qualitative study examines how women’s contributions are represented in the teaching of Political and Legal Doctrines at Polish universities. It draws on interviews with 15 academics from eight universities. The material was analysed using thematic coding that combined deductive categories with themes emerging from the interviews.
The findings indicate that women are not entirely absent from teaching, but their presence is usually limited: they appear as brief references, exceptions, figures discussed through their relationship with canonical male thinkers, or within a separate unit on feminism. They are less often presented as independent contributors to the main traditions of political and legal thought. The canon is shaped not only by assessments of intellectual significance, but also by inherited materials, textbooks, examinations, chronological course structures, limited teaching time and lecturers’ specialisations. The findings are exploratory and concern declared practices. They suggest that greater inclusion requires not merely adding names, but reconsidering how women’s ideas are positioned within the broader narrative of intellectual history.
