The article precents the main pillars and principles underlying the social policy in Spain. It focuses on welfare policies, its structure and administration. In addition, within the welfare the article distinguishes welfare services, divided into general services, specialist services and other. Economic assistance is discussed separately, with attention paid to the welfare benefit option and its variations, the final part of the article is devoted to the cooperation with private institutions and presents the latest trends in the welfare policy development.
