Abstract
Poetic rhythm by itself is of no independent aesthetic importance which is acquired bv its active participation in the formation of the emotional tension cmbodied in poctics. Like other components of poctics rhythm is striving to perfection, So the poets work on rhythm is not a formal game but an evidence of his art, knowledge and feeling of the potentalites of his native language in the field of the creation of literury art. It is but obvious that gift is what matters here, but the awareness of the use of set rhythmie types. mindfuł efforts aimed at the perfection as well as the formation of new types ot rhythm are also needed. Rhythm of poetry is part of the system of the aesthetic connections ot the work of art. The methods of its investigation have been based on mathematical calculations. Quantitative correlations expressed in regular distribution of syllables, feet, lines and stanzas also control the distribution of imagery and sense according to the laws of beauty und harmony. Famous Ukrainian writer I. Y. Franko's collections of poetry 'Withered Leaves” ubounds in examples of sophisticated rhythmie structures bcaring the beauty of the work of art and hugh flights of poetic thought. The poet has mastered to perfection the device of dipody, syllabic-accentual metre modifications and the rhythm of the Ukrainian folksong. The analysis of the pieces of the collection *Withered leaves” proves the theoretical conclusions on Verse, according to which verse fulfils an important aesthetic function, since it creates sublime, beautitully sounding poetic language.
