Русский Макбиет или историческая хроника? еще раз о жанре "Бориса Годунова"

Abstract

The essayd eals with the genre specificso f „Goris Godunov” by A. S. Pushkin. The playwright himself acknowledged the great influence of Shakespearian manner upon his work. Some critics (from Ivan Kireevsky to Edmund Wilson) saw in Boris Godunow unsuccessful attempt to create „the Russian Macbeth. The genre distinctions of „Macbeth” from some close in theme Shakespeare's chronicle plays are important for comprehension of Pushkin's drama's genre peculiarity. The analysis from this standpoint convinces that Pushkin was guided by the genre tradition of the chronicle plays, but not of the tragedies by Shakespeare.
