Abstract
The aim of the paper is to analize the cognitive and existential status of negative state affairs,
defined as the ontological correlates of the true negative logical judgements. I take up this issue on
the basis of the three phenomenological conceptions, created by Meinong, Reinach and Ingarden.
After analysing all conceptions I reject the two first solutions, which are homogeneous and
objective (respectively: idealistic and realistic) and argue for the heterogenous solution proposed
by Ingarden. It is because only the last one doesn't confuse the criterion of the truth with the
criterion of the existence.
